A NEW 26-mile fundraising trek from Wildwood Worcester to the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-Upon-Avon has raised almost £2,000 for St Richard’s Hospice.

The Shakespeare in Boots walk took place in high heat on June 29 and was hailed a triumph.

The team was led by Tarquin Shaw-Young, from Malvern, who came up with the idea and performed extracts from 20 of Shakespeare’s plays. The works ranged from Much Ado, The Tempest, As

You Like It, Henry V, and King John to Hamlet, Merry Wives of Windsor and Richard III.

The walk ended with a mock duel with swords and Puck’s final speech from A Midsummer Night’s Dream in full costume outside the theatre in Stratford.

Tarquin said: “Spirits were high throughout, despite some hot weather and very challenging overgrown paths but the team pulled it off and raised a goodly amount of nearly £2,000 and rising.”
