A MAJOR £300,000 revamp at one of the town’s most popular leisure centres is underway.
Malvern Splash is undergoing the refurbishment, which runs from last Monday (July 27) to next Thursday (August 13), to improve its gym and cycle studio.
The work will take place in two phases with the first half revamping some of the existing gym and building an interactive Myride indoor cycling studio.
The second phase, expected to be finished by the end of August, will start when the first part is finished and will see the other half of the gym refurbished, with ‘state-of-the-art’ Technogym kit and machines installed.
Freedom Leisure, which operates the site on behalf of Malvern Hills District Council, will fund the whole project.
Ian Bonsall, Freedom Leisure general manager, said: “I am excited by the prospect of a new gym and Myride indoor cycling studio as they will both bring greater scope and new exercise options to our members.
“We have planned the work to minimise disruption and enable continued access to the gym facilities through the refurbishment process.”
Mark Hammond, contracts and performance manager at the district council, added: “I am delighted to see these ambitious plans for the gym refurbishment and new cycling studio being put into place.
“Part of our agreement with Freedom Leisure was to modernise key aspects of our sites to improve the facilities and this work is the next stage following recent energy improvement works.”
Freedom Leisure has also announced plans to start work on the Sport Dyson Perrins and Sport Martley gyms before the end of the summer.
