RENOWNED composer Andrew Lloyd Webber has written to Hanley Castle High School to offer his support ahead of its ‘A School of Rock’ musical production.

The theatre director has wished the cast, crew and musicians ‘all good wishes for a wonderful opening night’.

Performances rake place every night from Wednesday to Saturday.

School of Rock is currently playing in the West End but for many the first encounter with it will have been through Jack Black’s performance in the film version.

Now it’s the turn of the stars of Hanley Castle to take the limelight.

Director Suzy Parker said: “When we initially announced that we were choosing School of Rock as our next production the buzz of excitement was like nothing that we have experienced before.

“We of course took a trip to see the West End production and that inspired many students to take part.

“This led us to employing the biggest and youngest cast that we have ever had in the history of Hanley musical productions.

“We have had a wonderful time over the last five months working with these fantastic students and we hope that people enjoy the results of their labour.

“These are the moments that they will treasure for years to come as they reminisce about their school experiences.”

Tickets are still available for some performances and can be purchased at the school from reception.
