CONSTRUCTION communities and trade bodies across Malvern, are being called upon to support the victims of the Turkey and Syria earthquake with a fund-raising drive.
A JustGiving page has been launched by the Builders Merchants’ Federation (BMF) to raise funds to go towards providing on-site emergency shelter, medical aid, food and clean water.
The BMF, which has 870 merchant and supplier companies across the UK, has joined forces with management company First Event for the drive.
The joint approach to create this campaign has come from a shared target between both companies to bring the BMF’s all industry conference to Istanbul later in the year.
John Newcomb, the BMF’s chief executive officer, said: “We are calling on our members and their customers in Malvern to raise vital funds for the people of Turkey and Syria.”
The BMF has supported numerous partner charities over the years, including the Band of Builders, Teenage Cancer Trust, Variety – the Children’s Charity, Mental Health UK and Samaritans, raising almost £200,000 in the last five years.
