A GRANT of £400k has been approved for the former Malvern Hills College to be bought and safeguarded for the future.
The funding was rubber-stamped by Malvern Hills District Council, just a week after Worcestershire County Council agreed to provide another £400k grant to Malvern Hills Arts and Community College (MHACC).
The plan is for the MHACC – a not-for-profit company established in April last year – will buy the Albert Road North property from the current owners, Warwickshire College Group and operate it.
The council grant is secured as a charge on the property and another funding request has been made to the Bransford Trust.
Coun Tom Wells, Leader of Malvern Hills District Council, said: “We are delighted to approve the grant for MHACC to help purchase the Malvern Hills College site.
“This decision moves MHACC a step closer to providing a community led hub for creative arts and education within the district, rewarding their fantastic efforts to date.
“It also supports our Council priorities of supporting our communities and our economy.”
