ENTERPRISING students are being encouraged to sign up for a hospice campaign which aims to raise money for its care.

The Flourishing Fivers scheme, run by St Richard’s Hospice, encourages young people to take part in the creative money-making challenge which has been running since 2005.

Jayne Sargeant, fund-raiser at St Richard’s Hospice, said: “Our Flourishing Fivers initiative is aimed at students aged 11 and above.

“Each pupil involved is allocated £5 and asked to try to at least double the amount for our hospice care.”

Last year, pupils from The Chase School in Malvern took part in the campaign and raised more than £2,000 to support the hospice’s care to patients living with life-limiting illnesses.

Activities included gunge the teacher, car washing, cake sales and bag packing.

Since its launch, the Flourishing Fivers has seen schools across Worcestershire raise fantastic amounts to support the hospice.

Claire James, fund-raiser at St Richard’s, added: “We would like to encourage local schools and their students to get involved in our Flourishing Fivers initiative.

“It’s a fantastic way for young people to not only get involved with a worthwhile cause but to develop their entrepreneurial and business skills.

“We have been impressed by the creative fundraising activities to date and would like to join forces with more schools in the coming year.”

Schools who want to get involved should call 01905 763963 or email [email protected].
