PARISH councillors in Malvern Wells are set to discuss a lasting tribute to the late Chris Cheeseman who served the community for many years.

A funeral servcie was held on Friday (June 20) for the former district councillor who died suddenly after collapsing at a council meeting earlier this month.

The parish council’s planning committee conducted a minute silence at their recent meeting and tomorrow (Wednesday, June 25), councillors will talk about a fitting way to remember Chris, with ideas including funding a defibrillator to be fitted into a village phone box or making a donation to an appropriate charity.

Parish clerk David Taverner said: “Chris Cheeseman did an enormous amount of work in the parish over many years, we were completely shocked and saddened by his sudden death.

“He was a really nice gentleman as well as a friendly and outgoing man. Chris was the ward member for Malvern Wells on the district council and served on the parish council for some time. He was very popular and enthusiastic.

“His wife Ann has also done a lot for the community particularly in organising the parish fĂȘte.

“Both have given up an enormous amount of time for Malvern Wells and we really are extremely thankful.

“We want to mark Chris’s passing in an appropriate way.”
