District Council's annual residents' survey to return

Malvern Editorial 14th Sep, 2023 Updated: 14th Nov, 2023   0

MALVERN Hills District Council’s annual residents’ survey reopens soon offering constituents a chance to have their say and influence local authority decisions.

The survey asks constituents what they think of their local area and the services the council provides.

Opening on Sunday, September 17, the survey will be available until October 15.

It will take 15 to 20 minutes to complete and progress can be saved if those partaking need to take the questionnaire in stages.

Feedback from the survey will be considered and used to in an effort to improve service.

This year, Malvern Hills District Council are asking residents to share priorities for the region which will feed into development of the council’s revised five year plan for next year.

Climate change and carbon emissions were indicated as a top priority by residents in their 2021 survey.

As a result, the council incorporated hydrotreated vegetable oil into a number of waste fleet vehicles, installed solar tiles and battery storage in council owned toilets, as well as making improvements to energy efficiency at Malvern Splash and Malvern Theatres after energy audits.

Electric vehicle charging points have also been installed in council-owned car parks across the district, and secondary glazing and a new building management system was installed at the Council House.

For this year, residents who complete the survey will be able to enter a prize draw with a number of £75 vouchers to be won for use at a local, independent restaurant or retailer of their choice within the district.

Councillor Tom Wells, leader of Malvern Hills District Council said: “Our annual residents’ survey is a great opportunity to gain feedback on what is important to people within the district and to understand what residents think of the services we provide.

“The responses will help us identify any improvements or changes needed, and gives residents the opportunity to feed into shaping our strategic plan for the coming financial year.”
