Free property marking in Malvern so residents can keep their possessions safe

Malvern Editorial 29th May, 2021   0

RESIDENTS wanting to keep their property safe from thieves can have it marked at an event in Malvern on Wednesday, June 2.

The session, organised by Malvern Hills District Council, takes place between 3pm and 7pm at Pendock Primary School car park.

Free property marking event will help keep your items safe

Officers will be on hand to offer free property security marking and home security advice.

People can bring in bikes, trailers, horse boxes, power tools, gardening equipment, laptops and much more.

A series of methods will be used, including an Overt Property Marking system called CREMARK. This system uses a visible security code made up of a postcode and house number, or two letters of your house name, which makes the item identifiable and traceable.

Other methods will include UV pens and stickers, as well as bike marking. Covid-19 safety measures will be in place at all times.

Coun Tom Wells, Portfolio Holder for Community Services at Malvern Hills District Council, said: “Property marking is like giving your belongings a unique fingerprint which will help identify them if they are ever stolen or lost. It is a great way of keeping them safe and giving you that extra peace of mind, all for free!.”

People should email kamil.[email protected] or call Kamil Ambroziak on 01684 862250 to book an appointment.

In celebration of Bike Week 2021, which runs from Sunday, May 30, to June 5, Malvern Hills District Council is also offering a free property marking appointment at any time during that week for those unable to attend on 2 June. Email [email protected] for more information.
