WEST WORCESTERSHIRE MP Harriett Baldwin has paid tribute to fellow MP Jo Cox who died earlier today (Thursday) after being shot and stabbed multiple times in her West Yorkshire constituency.
Reports say the Labour MP for Batley and Spen, was left bleeding on the floor by her attacker in Birstall. A man also suffered slight injuries.
It is also reported a 52-year-old man has been arrested.
Many politicians have paid tribute following the 41-year-old’s shocking death including Mrs Baldwin who said she made the world a better place.
Mrs Baldwin said on Twitter: “In this attack on our democracy, we’ve lost a brave, principled woman who made the world a better place. My heart goes out to Jo’s family.”
Malvern deputy mayor Hannah Campbell also tweeted her shock of the MP’s death, saying she was in ‘total disbelief’.
Vote Leave and Remain have both suspended campaigning in the EU referendum in light of the attack.
