RESIDENTS can help a junior rugby team in Malvern convert their dream into a reality by attending a fund-raising event.
That was the message from Spencer Morris, who is looking to raise enough money for Malvern u11s to travel and compete in the countries, which make up the RBS Six Nations.
A special event will be held at the Malvern Cube on Friday (June 26) where people will get the chance to inject cash into the project while enjoying live music.
Since the scheme was launched in 2014, the Spring Lane-based team has played in Aberystwyth in Wales and Torquay in England.
However, Mr Morris, who helps coach the side, said they still needed to visit Ireland, France, Scotland and Wales to complete their Six Nations-themed tour.
“The aim over the next four years is to get the group of lads to complete a Six Nations tour,” he said.
“But as you can imagine, the logistics are difficult – getting nearly 30 players plus coaches and parents to and from each destination, and we want to be inclusive as possible, so fund-raising will play a big part.”
One of the parents, Becky Tate, will be performing with her band, Baba Jack, while there will also be performances from Mumbo Jumbo, with beer provided by Malvern Hills Brewery on the night.
And Mr Morris added: “Firstly this is about everybody having a good night next Friday and then it is about raising funds for the tour.
“I don’t think there is a limit to what we want to raise, but I would urge people to come along, have fun and raise as much money as we can.”
Tickets for the event, which starts at 8pm, cost £10 per and can be purchased by visiting www.malverncube.com while children can pay £2 on the door.
