Holy Trinity Choir to perform Faure's Requiem twice in Malvern in the run up to Easter

HOLY Trinity’s Augmented Choir is performing Faure’s Requiem on the first two weekends of April.

The much-loved music by 19th century French composer Gabriel Faure can be heard at 10.30am on Sunday, April 3, during the service at Holy Trinity, Link Top, and next Sunday, April 10, at the 6.30pm service at St James’ in West Malvern.

The occasions are entitled ‘Requiem, Resurrection and Revelation’ and are a significant feature in the run up to Easter.

The choir’s conductor Charles Pavey said: “The choir was ready to perform this music two years ago but the first lockdown got there first – it has been a long wait.

“However, on the back of the choir’s open rehearsal in early March, we have now assembled the largest choir Holy Trinity has seen in decades and it will also be good to be returning to sing in West Malvern too after such a long time.”

As well as Faure’s Requiem, there will be a selection of readings and some suitably well-known hymns to be sung by all who would like to hear these inspirational occasions of Passiontide in music and word.

Alongside the choir will be soloists Es Hoyle (soprano) and Will Coleman (Baritone) with the organ being played by Holy Trinity’s assistant organist Billy Colbourne.

Admission is free and there will be a collection.
