INDEPENDENT shops and businesses in the Malvern Hills District will be joining thousands of others across the country to offer £5 deals as part of Fiver Fest.

The Totally Locally National Fiver Fest, running from Saturday, June 12, to Wednesday, June 16, will see Great Malvern, Barnards Green, Malvern Link, Upton and Tenbury celebrate the high street by putting on special £5 offers across two weeks.

Spending just £5 a week can make a big difference to the high street. With this in mind, Fiver Fest offers the opportunity for shoppers to support their local traders and take advantage of some great offers.

These include, a genuine leather belt from Smart Fellas in Tenbury, a hearts and butterfly stamp set from Heidi’s Treasure Trove in Great Malvern, a bar of Kew Soap from Just So in Barnards Green and two freshly prepared chicken burgers with stuffing and gravy from Malvern Meat Company in Upton.

Fiver Fest is a campaign which is free to join that has been created and run by Totally Locally, a Grass Roots High Street Organisation that has been helping businesses and High Streets to help themselves since 2010.

The festival has been running in individual towns in the UK and abroad for the past seven years.

Coun Daniel Walton, Malvern Hills District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Economic Development and Tourism, said: “The independent shops and businesses are what makes our town special and unique.

“The community support for local businesses has been amazing during lockdown, so these offers as part of Fiver Fest are to say thank you to customers, and to highlight the great value and economic impact of shopping locally.”

Chris Sands of Totally Locally, said: “We know Fiver Fest isn’t going to change the world, but small changes in spending habits can really make a difference to our high streets. Just by diverting £5 of our weekly spend to local independents we give them a fighting chance to thrive.”
