Kempsey animal rescue centre to hold Novelty Dog Show next week

Malvern Editorial 27th Jun, 2017 Updated: 27th Jun, 2017   0

A NEW animal rescue centre in Kempsey will be holding a Novelty Dog Show next Sunday.

The RSPCA Worcester & Mid-Worcestershire branch will host the event at the Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre at The Holdings from 10.30am to 4pm.

Judging by Malvern vet Richard Chamings will start from 11am.

There are 14 classes including best rescue dog, best veteran over seven years old, bad hair day and the dog which looks most like its owner.

Prizes and rosettes will be awarded up to fourth place in each class.

There will be lots of stalls including a raffle, bric-a-brac, lucky dip, tombola and much more.

Field parking is also available.

After the successful launch of the state-of-the-art cattery in October, the rescue centre has re-homed more than 160 cats and kittens.

The rabbit house for 12 small animals will be built later this year and it is hoped the dog isolation unit will also be in this year’s programme.

Once enough funds have been raised, the centre hopes to start work on the reception building, veterinary and grooming room as well as a kennel block to provide 20 homes with exercise areas.

People can also ‘Buy A Brick’ on the day and help to start the kennel building.

For more information about the dog show or ‘Buy A Brick’, call branch trustee Geraldine Haynes on 01886 822083 or email [email protected].
