'Learn more and have a go' as organ take centre stage at Malvern's Holy Trinity Church this weekend

AN ORGAN open morning will be held at Malvern’s Holy Trinity Church, Link Top, this Saturday, May 14.

The event is aimed at raising awareness of organs in church and offers the chance to hear the organ at Holy Trinity which was installed three years ago.

The morning will start with the performance of some well-known organ music and will be followed by a demonstration of the workings of parts of the organ.

Then, whilst refreshments are being served, visitors can have a go themselves.

Current keyboard players may wish to bring a straightforward piece of music to try on the organ but the morning is suitable for anyone who is interested in hearing the instrument whether or not they play instruments themselves.

The occasion is being hosted by Holy Trinity’s two organists.

Assistant organist Billy Colbourne said: “There is a fascination with the organ and we hope to demonstrate its considerable variety of sound and breadth of volume.

“Since the organ was installed at Holy Trinity we have developed an instrument that is suited to the building and has the power to inspire.”

All are welcome to come and play or just come and listen at the free event.
