A MALVERN author who launched her ‘Live Your Bucket List’ booked on Sunday has seen it go to number one in the new release charts on Amazon.

In four days Julia Goodfellow Smith’s creation received 26 star reviews in the UK and 40 in America.

People wrote that they could not put it down, describing it as ‘inspirational’ and saying it was ”an essential read for anyone wanting to kickstart their bucket list’.

It stemmed from last summer when Julia walked the South West Coast Path from Poole in Dorset to Minehead – a distance of some 630 miles over seven-and-a-half weeks.

She said: “I think with the walks to and from campsites I covered more like 680 miles.

“It was a journey I had wanted to embark on for the past 25 years – it was an amazing experience and gave me so much time to think.

“We have some of the best – if not the best – coastline in the world.

“I was worried it may be a bit ‘samey’ after a while but it was far from that and there was something different around every corner – the sights, the sounds, the views and all the weathers I walked in were incredible.”

She added looking back at what she had achieved in her life had given her so much experience and so many skills.

When she returned she wrote up her notes and then started work on the book in March.

“I wanted the book to help and inspire people but to do that I had to figure out exactly how to write it so it could benefit others.

“I worked hard on it, hoping it would take off but did not expect it to do so well so quickly, it’s fantastic.

“I have been absolutely blown away by all the comments I have received.”

She also wild camped alone for the first time during some of the trip – something she had never done before.

“Previously I would leave everything to my husband and just turn up to sleep.

“But because of the number of people who were in Devon over the summer, I knew there would be times where the campsites would be full.”

Whether they want to learn Japanese, play drums in a blues band, run a 10k or watch the sun rise over the Pacific Ocean, most people have a bucket list. Live Your Bucket List guides readers through a proven process, developed and honed over many years, to take them from dreaming to achieving.

Julia added: “Each step of the process is detailed and accompanied by personal stories and key lessons from my own journey to live my bucket list.”

The book is available to buy on Amazon here, and also at the co-operative bookshop on St Ann’s Road in Malvern.
