Malvern Buzzards 'flew the flag' for Ukraine with 24-hour relay, raising £7,000 for the UK's DEC appeal

THE MALVERN Buzzards running club took part in a 24-hour relay to fly the Ukrainian flag and raised £7,000 for the UK’s DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

It began on at 6pm last Friday and finished at the same time on the Saturday with 54 club members involved.

They undertook a 6km route which started in Great Malvern and took runners through Barnards Green and onto Malvern Link before heading back to Abbey Road Coffee for some well-earned refreshments.

A number of local business supported the event by having collection pots for cash donations, including Abbey Road Coffee, The Water Cure, The Old Con Club and The Red Lion Cradley.

Printed Banners and Signs kindly manufactured and supplied the Ukrainian flag.

And there were several virtual runners around the world – including two in Penrith, one in Scotland and one in Dubai – who were also showing the Buzzards’ support for Ukraine.
