Malvern Hills AONB Partnership looking for community projects to fund

Malvern Editorial 9th Feb, 2017   0

THE Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Partnership is now on the lookout for community projects across the district which it can support with its sustainable development fund.

Each year the partnership helps a range of projects which will benefit the area to help them get off the ground.

Now in its tenth year, the fund supports projects which bring social, environmental and economic benefits to the AONB, as well as developing and testing new ways of achieving a more sustainable way of living.

The scheme has already helped 116 projects become reality.

In 2015, the partnership awarded Colwall Community Orchards a grant to build a toilet so the orchards could be used for educational purposes as well as helping Malvern Car Club expand its car-sharing scheme into Ledbury.

Fund manager David Armitage said: “This is a fund which is aimed at people who care about the AONB.

“It’s people and their ideas that make this area so wonderful to live in. This fund brings those ideas to fruition.”

Community groups, organisations, individuals and businesses can apply for grants from £300 to £5,000, to explore and develop practical projects which conserve and enhance the environment.

Applicants don’t have to live in the AONB to apply but they need to show the project will help to promote a living, working AONB landscape.
