Malvern Male Voice Choir to celebrate its 60th anniversary at annual charity concert

Malvern Editorial 29th May, 2022   0

A FUND-RAISING concert in aid of Cancer Research UK will be given by Malvern Male Voice Choir at 7.30pm on June 11, writes Lucy Kesseler.

The event – at Great Malvern Priory – is held annually and this year marks the 60th anniversary of the group supporting the charity’s Malvern Local Committee.

The choir will be collaborating with Choir Sabrina Voices which is conducted by Tom Wells.

Since its launch, the concerts have raised more than £750,000 towards the cause.

The Malvern Male Voice Choir began in 1912 playing in many different venues across the country, and are led by Musical Director Charles Pavey.

In contrast, Sabrina Voices is a newer choir, formed in 2019.

During the show, a new song specially commissioned for the event will be performed. ‘On Malvern Hill’ is loosely based on the medieval poem Piers the Plowman and the music for it was written by local composer Liz Dilnot Johnson.

Newcomers are welcome to join up by attending any Monday evening rehearsal.

Entry to the concert is £12 for adults and free for under 18s.

Tickets are available on the door, from Parry’s of Malvern (open from 9.30am to 4.15pm Tuesday to Saturday) or by calling 01684 892772.

Light refreshments are included in the price.
