Malvern MP praises Cube's phoenix return

MALVERN MP Harriett Baldwin has praised volunteers who are leading the efforts to bring a popular town community centre back into full operation following a major fire.

The Cube, on Albert Road North, was seriously damaged by a fire in August, destroying a recently installed kitchen as well as the backstage area.

Manager Jon White had confirmed the fire was caused by an electrical fault.

Events continue to run at the venue and community groups are still meeting as normal.

The MP recently visited the centre to see the extent of the damage and to show her support to the Cube’s management team.

“The Malvern Cube is a fantastic local resource and it was reassuring to know that the centre’s operation has been largely unaffected by the fire,” she said.

“It has gone from strength to strength since Worcestershire County Council leased the building to local people who have worked so hard to create this community asset.

“The fire was clearly a setback but I am pleased to help share the message that its operation continues as normal as the repair project gets underway.”
