Malvern organ scholar to return to hometown for summer concert

MALVERN’S Holy Trinity Church is delighted to announce its latest organ concert coming this August.

The church in Link Top will host Malvern born and bred organ scholar, George Charman who is returning to his hometown to perform during the summer recess.

George is a scholar from Pembroke College, Oxford. The performance starts at 12 noon. Entry is free with a retiring collection for the church for those wishing to donate. Light refreshments will be served after the concert.

Music will range from Bach through Elgar and the French composer Jehan Alain to the very contemporary David Bednall. The show will conclude with Widor’s Toccata.

Holy Trinity’s organist and choirmaster, Charles Pavey, said “George played for us at Holy Trinity in 2022 with music that was solidly prepared and extremely well performed.

“There’s a real excitement to see and hear him play again after the ensuing two years for what will undoubtedly be an interestingly varied and highly charged hour’s performance on Holy Trinity’s very versatile and now well-established organ.”
