Malvern residents still have chance to apply to become a town councillor

Malvern Editorial 10th Jan, 2018   0

TIME is running out for residents to apply to become a councillor on Malvern Town Council.

Applications to represent the Chase and Link wards close on Friday.

Vacancies for the two wards came about after Simon Nichols and Clive Smith stepped down from their positions.

Nomination papers can be obtained from Malvern Town Council or Malvern Hills District Council and must be hand delivered to the returning officer at the Council House on Avenue Road.

In the case multiple candidates stand for both wards, a poll will take place on Thursday, February 8.

Polling hours will be from 7am to 10pm.

Candidates will be sent further instructions and documents prior to the day of the poll.

In the case of an uncontested election, the returning officer will inform the uncontested candidate of their election.

A town council spokesperson said: “Town councillors come from all walks of life.

“If you have passion, want to represent residents, make a change and have a say on issues in Malvern, then we want you.

“As a councillor you will help to shape the community while ensuring that residents and local people are as widely represented as possible.”
