Malvern Town FC fans urged to suggest new nickname

MALVERN Town’s manager has called on Observer readers to suggest a nickname for the club.

The West Midlands Regional League Premier Division side were formed back in 1946 but despite their 69 year existence, it appears the club does not have an official nickname.

Boss Les Jones has therefore asked if readers would like to put forward their ideas.

Jones said: “The club doesn’t have an official nickname as far as I am aware.

“Usually we just refer to the club as ‘the Town’ but we could vote for one to be introduced.

“We were formed in 1946 so we could call ourselves the 46ers – similar to the San Fransisco 49ers – but we’ll let the public decide.”

Malvern Town FC managing director Chris Pinder said the idea of fans giving the club a nickname would be a fantastic idea.

“I think it would be brilliant to give the fans the opportunity to give us a nickname, especially after all this time without one.” he said.

Anyone who would like to make a suggestion on a potential nickname for Malvern Town can email [email protected] during the next few weeks.
