THE 42 bus which operates between the Fruitlands and Malvern Link via Great Malvern returns on Monday, July 6, after being halted during the Coronavirus lockdown.
Operator LMS Travel had to cease several services across Worcestershire, including the 20, because several of its drivers were shielding which made running the bus impossible.
Now things are returning to normal and the restrictions are easing it is able to get it up-and-running again.
A number of other buses will also restart that day – mainly in Worcester, including the 21 (Worcester to Winchester Avenue, Bransford Road and back to Worcester), the 24 circular between Kilbury Drive via Prestwich Avenue, the 39 from Lower Wick to Worcester, Blackpole (and Dugdale Drive) via Merrimans Hill and the 423 which serves Worcester, Alfrick, Suckley and Bransford.
Worcestershire County Councillor Alan Amos, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Highways, welcomed the reinstatement LMS Travel’s services.
“They have informed us that they are installing perspex screens and have put in place rigorous cleaning regimes as well as issuing staff with PPE.
“So we are looking forward to the public regaining the confidence to use bus services again as soon as possible.”
Each bus will be able to carry eight or nine passengers and social distancing measures will be in place.
Passengers are also reminded they all need to wear masks, in line with the Government’s regulations.
Anyone who does not have to have a mask – children under 11 and people with breathing difficulties – have to have a doctor’s note.
