GLORIOUS sunshine and bluebells in full bloom welcomed more than 400 walkers who stepped out across the Malvern Hills in aid of St Richard’s Hospice.

Groups of friends, colleagues, school children and families pulled on their walking boots for the annual St Richard’s Malvern Hills Walk.

The walk, which has so far raised more than £20,000 for hospice care, included a family team who have raised more than £2,500 as a thank-you for the care and support currently being received by a family member.

Corporate teams included law firm Harrison Clarke Rickerbys which supports many hospice events throughout the year, raising more than £1,300.

Jayne Sargeant, fund-raiser at St Richard’s Hospice, said: “We were absolutely delighted to welcome everyone bright and early on our annual Malvern Hills Walk.

“It was great to see so many supporters taking on this challenge. We would like to extend a really big thank-you to each and every supporter who fund-raised for our care.

“Every penny of the sponsorship raised will go directly to our patients and families to ensure we can carry on providing our free care.”

Charlotte Thornton-Smith, head of Harrison Clark Rickerbys’ Worcester office, added: “I’m very proud so many of our staff took part in the Malvern Hills walk.

“We have supported St Richard’s Hospice for many years and it richly deserves all our efforts. It gives local families so much care and support at a very difficult time in their lives.

“All the fund-raising from this walk will support them in that work.”

Walkers could choose from a two, five or 11-mile route over the beautiful Malvern Hills.

The walk is one of the hospice’s most popular events and has been going since the charity was launched in 1984.

The event was sponsored by Startin Skoda of Powick.
