Motorsport celebration, Battle of Britain Flypast and more at Shelsley Walsh this weekend

Malvern Editorial 12th Jul, 2022   0

A CELEBRATION of the glory days of motorsport will be held at Shelsley Walsh during its Classic Nostalgia Weekend.

The highlight in the motorsport calendar takes place this Saturday and Sunday, July 15 and 16, boasting the very best racing cars, vintage specials, a garden party atmosphere and track action with rally cars.

There will be a tribute to BRM’s 1962 F1 World Championship when Graham Hill became the first British driver to win the competition in an all-British car.

The Owen family showcasing its collection of more than 20 historic BRMs and, staying with the theme, BRM aces Richard Attwood, Howden Ganley and Mike Wilds will be special guests.

The event will also be part of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight on both days so visitors will be able to enjoy a flypast by the finest aircraft from the Second World War.

On the Saturday, its fabulous Avro Lancaster will be rumbling overhead and treating visitors to the unmistakeable noise of its four Rolls-Royce Merlin engines – that will be followed on Sunday by the iconic Supermarine Spitfire.

The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight has ‘Lest We Forget’ as its motto and its mission is not only to commemorate those who have fallen in service of their country, but also to inspire and educate future generations.
