A BRAND-NEW artisan market is set to arrive in Upton upon Severn later in August.
The free to enter market will be open from 10am to 4pm on Friday, August 23 and Saturday, August 24 alongside the waterside in Upton Upon Severn.
Upton Traders Group have created the event which is supported by Malvern Hills District Council and operated by C.J Events.
The market will showcase a wide range of independent makers and artists, with their handmade arts and crafts.
Stall holders include acrylic gifts, handcrafted sterling silver jewellery, hand knitted socks made on a Victorian socks machine, 100% natural candles in ornate recycled pots and cups, handmade gifts and artwork using beachcombed materials, and much more.
Councillor Martin Allen, ward member for Upton upon Severn, at Malvern Hills District Council said: “We are really pleased to have a brand-new market in Upton, and all being well, we hope to run monthly markets here to help increase footfall.
“We have obtained a temporary road closure alongside part of waterside to encourage more people to enjoy the town and to allow for regular markets.”
Annie Potts from Upton Emporium, a marketplace for traders in the town, has welcomed the addition of an open-air market to the town.
She added: “It’s something that I personally have been trying to organise for a long time now and I am sure it will be a great success.
“All credit to Rebecca Probert, town centre support officer at Malvern Hills District Council, she has been brilliant.”
