MUSIC will fill the air at Upton-upon-Severn when a new festival comes to town this weekend, writes Caprice Harrison.

The Spring Fling, from 7pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 13 to 15, will feature 48 performances in 48 hours across ten local venues.

Among them will be The Swan Hotel, The Boathouse, The Kings Head, The Star Inn, Ye Olde Anchor Inn, The Little Upton Muggery, The Drum and Monkey, Mojitos Bar, the White Lion Hotel and Bar Severn.

Beverley Nielsen, Malvern Hills District Council’s portfolio holder for economic development and tourism, said: “The Spring Fling will be a great addition to the town’s exciting calendar of events and we hope residents and visitors will enjoy it.”

The family-friendly event has been organised by Upton48 and is aimed at showcasing the idyllic town and its local businesses.

Kyle Hassall, chair of the Upton Licensees Committee, said: “Upton48 was created to promote tourism in Upton-upon-Severn during the town’s quieter months.

“Myself and the committee worked together to develop an idea that would attract a large tourist base, whilst staying true to the town’s musical routes.”
