Nuisance drivers get police warning

Malvern Editorial 15th May, 2015 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

MOTORISTS driving dangerously around the Malvern Retail Park will be dealt with robustly, police have warned.

A crackdown has been launched in the area after officers received reports of cars being used irresponsibly and causing noise and alarm in and around the shopping complex on Roman Way.

The Malvern Link Safer Neighbourhood Team have inspected vehicles for faults, unlawful modifications and anti-social behaviour as part of Operation Cruise.

Two prohibition orders were given out last Sunday (May 3), during a patrol with the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA), due to faulty and loud exhaust systems.

PC Cliff Green, of the Link SNT, said: “We have recently received complaints of cars being driven dangerously in the area, which during the evenings is a popular meeting place for young people and their vehicle’s.

“While not all are involved in causing the problem there are those who demonstrate their lack of consideration for others by having loud exhausts, playing loud music, revving engines and driving badly.

“This causes major disturbance and alarm to residents and others using the area.

“We have recently teamed up with VOSA officers to inspect vehicles with defects such as noisy exhaust systems and have issued drivers with prohibition orders.

“Any person causing this anti-social behaviour will be dealt with robustly.”
