People urged to use Malvern and Tenbury Minor Injury Units if they need medical help over the Easter bank holiday weekend

MINOR Injury Units across Worcestershire will be open daily throughout the Easter bank holiday weekend with Emergency Nurse Practitioners offering advice and treatment for a variety of injuries.

The healthcare professionals can help treat cuts, grazes, wounds, sprains, strains and minor burns.

To help ease the pressure on local emergency departments, Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, which runs units in Bromsgrove, Evesham, Malvern and Tenbury are encouraging the public the utilise their local units over Easter.

Dawn Shaw, Matron for Countywide MIUs, said: “By bringing your minor injuries to an MIU, you can help to ease the pressure on busy emergency departments, which should only be used in emergency or life-threatening situations.”

She urged people unsure of where to go to visit the NHS 111 website or call 111 for advice and signposting to local services, based on symptoms and the type of injury sustained.

She added it would help people get the right help, in the right place.

Visit NHS 111 or call 111 for medical help or walk into any Worcestershire MIU – there is no need for an appointment.

Go to the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust website: hacw.nhs.uk/MIU for locations and opening times for local units.
