Popular 'Walk Fit' returns to help Malvern residents get active

A POPULAR walking scheme encouraging people in Malvern Hills District to get active returns later this month.

The eight-week ‘Walk Fit’ programme runs between 2pm and 3pm every Wednesday, starting on November 11.

Participants will receive training and support from the council’s physical activity and well-being officer Rachel Nicholls.

Walk Fit is suitable for beginners of all ages and is aimed at improving confidence and fitness while benefiting mental well-being.

Taking a social and informal approach, the scheme also hopes to build friendships.

Coun Tom Wells, Portfolio Holder for Community Services at Malvern Hills District Council, said: “It’s really important to look after your mental health, especially in these circumstances, and physical activity is an integral part of this.

“This programme is a great way to give people who may not be very sporty the confidence to take on a new challenge.”

Social distancing measures will be in place at all times and numbers are limited to 12 people.
