A MALVERN teenager will host a charity race night later this month to raise funds on behalf of Project Trust for an overseas placement in Honduras.
Martin Evans, a 17-year-old pupil at Hanley Castle High School, will spend 12 months working in a school with underprivileged children following a rigorous four-day selection process on the remote island of Coll, Scotland, last summer.
He will teach children English to increase their life chances.
But as part of his commitment to this project, Martin is required to raise £6,200 which will cover the majority of the cost of his year while Project Trust will also fund-raise to cover the balance.
So far Martin has achieved a quarter of the target and has organised a race night at Norton Village Hall on Saturday, January 27 to add to the coffers.
“The evening is going to be fun-filled, with chances to win some fantastic prizes which have been kindly donated by local companies, including a voucher for four complimentary county enclosure tickets from Worcester Racecourse,” said Martin.
To boost his fund-raising, Martin is also looking for businesses who, for a small donation, may wish to sponsor one of the eight races on the evening or a slightly larger donation to sponsor the whole event.
It is essential tickets for the evening are booked in advance.
They cost £6 for adults, £3 for under-15s while under-fives enter for free.
