Rallying call for Malvern residents' help to get the district blooming again

Malvern Editorial 20th Feb, 2019   0

PEOPLE in Malvern are being urged to attend an open evening to help get the district blooming again, writes Sophie Wheeler.

Malvern in Bloom returns after a year off and at the workshop on Tuesday, February 26, residents will be able to find out how they can get involved and put forward ideas.

The session will take place from 5.30pm to 7pm at Abbey Road Coffee, next door to Aquarius, and will be led by the Mayor of Malvern, Coun Cynthia Palmer.

After previously winning ten consecutive gold awards the town will once again be entered into the small town category in the 2019 Heart of England in Bloom competition.

The campaign will concentrate on three areas – Chase, Pickersleigh and Priory.

Campaign leaders are now seeking volunteers with fresh ideas to help with the floral displays, the general upkeep of the town, litter picking, pruning and weeding.

A new competition will also be running this year alongside the local residents’ and traders’ contests.

Showcasing Victorian Gardens will be running throughout the summer months organised by the Malvern Civic Society.
