Staff and students at Malvern St James celebrate GCSE exam successes

STAFF and students at Malvern St James Girls’ School are celebrating their GCSE result success, writes Eve Watson.

Nearly one fifth of girls in the year group scored four or more grade 9s and almost 40 per cent of girls scored four or more grades 9 to 8 and 56 per cent scored four or more grades 9 to7.

Core subjects of maths, English and science showed strong results, with 52 per cent of the year achieving grades 9 to 7 in maths, 57 per cent achieving 9 to 7 in English and 70 per cent achieving 9 to 7 in separate Sciences.

 




Modern Foreign Languages have also returned exceptional results with French achieving 73 per cent of grades 9 to 7, German reaching 80 per cent of those with a 9 to 7 and Spanish 40 per cent of grades 9 to 7.


Georgia Hughes achieved nine grade 9s, one grade 8 and an A* in Further Mathematics, and twins Faye and Madeleine Lynch Williams between them achieved 18 grade 9s, two grade 8s and an A* with Distinction.

Rose Forester-Smith had nine grade 9s, one grade 8 and an A in Further Mathematics and Ruby Davies scored six grade 9s, two grade 8s, one grade 7 and an A* in Further Mathematics.

Headmistress Olivia Raraty said: “I’m tremendously pleased with our girls’ achievements which recognise their commendable effort and talent. I am especially proud of those girls who have worked hard to raise their grades and achieve their personal best.”
