Subway gives youngsters a chance to fill up the menu

Malvern Editorial 21st Jun, 2015 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

SANDWICH lovers have been invited to take up a tasty challenge and create the next addition to the Subway menu.

Pupils from schools, colleges and sixth forms in Malvern are being urged to take part in the Design a Sub Challenge 2015.

The winning six-inch sub will appear on menus at stores across the region from February next year.

Whoever comes up with the best design will be given an Apple iPad Mini and a share of £1,000 in Apple vouchers. There is also £750 worth of Apple vouchers up for grabs for the top five runners up.

Last year’s winning entry was designed in honour of the Rugby World Cup.

Anyone wanting to enter will need to create a marketing campaign and business plan based around their new Sub. All entries must be approved first by the school or college before submission.

Shortlisted entries will be given the chance to present their ideas in a Dragons’ Den style pitch to a panel of experts.

Gurpal Showker, Subway brand entrepreneur, said: “The Subway franchise is made up of thousands of entrepreneurs and it’s great if we can pass on some of our knowledge to the younger generation, who may even consider franchising as an option for owning their own business.

“Last year we were very impressed with the standard of entries to the challenge, and the number of schools and colleges who took part.

“Once again, we’re looking forward to seeing what the students from across the region can come up with this year.”

E-mail [email protected] for more information. The deadline for entries is October 9.
