Success in Wales and Worcester for the Malvern Buzzards' runners

A TEAM of 12 Malvern Buzzards travelled to Llanidloes to compete in the Heart of Wales Ultra Marathon (HOWUM).

The 30-mile trek saw participants take in stunning scenery with Sarah Armstrong taking first place in the whole race, finishing ninth overall.

Kate Dolphin was sixth female and 17th overall.




Tim Alford was sixth overall, Paul Dolphin seventh, Marc Heptinstall 13th, Adam Dyson 23rd and Matt Lambeth 25th.

All 12 Buzzards completed the race and members said it was a fantastic sunny day for competing.


A total of six Buzzards ran at Crowle 10k.

Neil Warne came fourth in his age category with a time of 38mins, 37secs.

Barbara Gawlak finished in a time of 47secs, 30secs, Wesley Ogden 48mins, 57secs, Kev Hart 52mins, 18secs, Claire Short 56mins, 24secs and Robyn Hall 1hr, 2mins, 21secs.

Adam Wilson and Julie Caseley ran at the Llanberis Ridge for the British Inter Counties Fell Runners Championships.

This was Julie’s first race with the team.

She said: “She was very proud to be selected to represent Worcestershire on a beautiful day in the mountains.”

Adam Wilson was the first runner back from the Worcestershire team.

He said: “It was a brutal race, steep up and steep down.”
