A GROUP of Colwall friends are looking to lead the way in a fund-raising effort for the Worcestershire Breast Unit campaign.
Mhari Brown, Maggie Knight Adams, Val Glazzard and Fiona Peet have joined forces to organise a week of charity events in Colwall and Malvern.
The dedicated residents are hoping to rake in more than £5,000 for the newly-opened unit, situated at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
A brunch and bubbly charity morning will take place on May 19 at the Colwall Park Hotel. Sponsored by Blue Cedar Homes, the healthy and light-hearted brunch will cost £20 for residents.
Malvern Spa, the sister company to The Colwall Park Hotel, will be holding the 5.3.1 triathlon from May 11 to 16. Members will be encouraged to undertake a 5km cycle, 3km run, jog or walk and a 1km row. The public will then be invited to join in on May 17.
A bumper raffle will also complement both these events with prizes which include a Sony Smart TV, a day in a Morgan sports car and a weekend at the Colwall Park Hotel.
Val Glazzard, of the fund-raising group, said: “Our small group of friends in Colwall has been overwhelmed by the incredible response we have had to our charity bash which is fast becoming a very high-profile initiative.
“It is such a great tribute to the wonderful community spirit in Colwall and Malvern.”
