Tom turns odd job man for aid mission

Malvern Editorial 5th Feb, 2015 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

A MAN is hoping to help locals in Malvern as part of his fund-raising mission to go to Kenya and aid natives set up their own businesses.

Tom Davison has made his services available for odd job work between now and the end of March, when he aims to embark on the 12-week volunteering programme in Africa.

The 25-year-old from Malvern Wells has been chosen for a place on the International Citizen Service.

As part of the entrepreneurship scheme Tom will help young Kenyans develop their business skills which they can use to set up their own small companies, before returning to the UK and completing a ‘Action at Home Project’ using his own newly learned skills to benefit communities in the UK.

He said: “I have always wanted to do something like this, which will help people while developing personally and learning about team working and leadership.”

As part of the project Tom has been set a fund-raising challenge for charity VSO, and he will also be taking on the Mudrunner Icebreaker 10 challenge at Eastnor Castle next Sunday (February 15). The event is a brutal 10km cross country run across the Land Rover testing ground made up of churned up tracks, hills, ice cold water pits and slippery banks.

Anyone wishing to contact Tom about an odd job or to provide a donation can e-mail him at [email protected] or call him on 01684 572317.
