MOTORISTS have been warned of a number of road closures and temporary traffic lights being introduced on several Worcester roads as major gas works begin.
Vital work to keep the gas flowing in Worcester kicked off on Monday (January 4) and are set to last for 12 weeks.
Local gas network Cadent will be replacing old iron pipes with tough new plastic ones that will last at least 80 years. The work will mean residents and businesses can continue to enjoy safe and reliable gas supplies to heat their homes and power their businesses for decades to come.
Temporary traffic lights will be in place on Ombersley Road on the junction of Victoria Street and St Stephens Street from tomorrow until January 24. Temporary traffic lights will be in place on the Northwick Road junction from January 25 until February 7.
On Northwick Road itself a rolling road closure from junction of Vine Street to junction of Northwick Avenue will be in place from February 8 until March 7. Temporary traffic lights on the junction of Vine Street and Eastbank Avenue with a closure on Pinkett Street from March 8 until March 31 will follow.
Temporary traffic lights at the junction of Norton Road on Bath Road will be in place from February 13 until March 7 while a one-way system will be in operation on Foregate Street from February 5 to 12.
Britannia Square and Back Lane South will be operating a one-way system with no parking from February 13 until February 21.
Temporary traffic lights will be in place on Upper Tything during the closure of Britannia Square and at the junction of St Oswalds Street from February 22 until March 7
Temporary traffic lights will also be in place on The Tything from March 8 until March 28.
