A VICTIM was left injured following an attempted robbery on a Malvern road.

The incident happened about 5.40pm yesterday (Tuesday) in Elgar Avenue when the victim and a friend were walking with their shopping along an alleyway.

As they approached an electricity substation beside the alleyway they encountered a man walking towards them, who tugged at the jacket of the victim, before attempting to steal a wallet from a trouser pocket.

The victim prevented this and the offender then tried to grab the victim’s shopping bags.

However the suspect did not manage to steal anything but the victim received injuries as a result of the attack.

Police say the suspect is a white man, between 5ft and 6ft 1, average build and was wearing a black or navy hoody at the time of the incident.

The suspect may also have had an injury to his left cheek.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 and quote reference number 552S221116.
