Walkers urged to join St Richard's Hospice's popular annual event

WALKERS keen to take on a challenge are being urged to sign up to stride the 31-mile Worcesertshire Way from dawn to dusk this summer.

St Richard’s Hospice, which provides free specialist palliative care for people living with life limiting illnesses , is organising the popular annual walk on Friday, June 23.

The walk, sponsored by Carisson Properties Ltd, will begin in Bewdley at 6am and finishes in Malvern.

Coach travel to the start is optional, leaving St Richard’s Hospice at 5.15am.

Last year more than 130 people took part in the event, raising £20,000 in the process to fund its valuable work.

Alison Parks, fund-raiser at St Richard’s Hospice explained: “Last year we had more walkers for this event than ever before which is testimony to the team spirit and camaraderie of those taking part.

“Although some of the terrain will be challenging, walkers will enjoy the beautiful Worcestershire countryside and certainly finish with a great sense of achievement.

“We rely on donations to fund our free care and are extremely grateful to all those in the community who support us so we can continue our work helping patients and families when they need us most.”

Those taking part will be treated to lunch at The Talbot Inn at Knightwick and the walk will also be supported by marshals with vehicles as well as first aiders.

Refreshments and water will be provided along the route.

Walkers pay a £10 administration fee and are asked to raise sponsorship.
