A LEADING county foundation raised more than £35,000 for Acorns Children’s Hospice and its chosen startup firms at its second black tie ball.

The SJL Foundation welcomed 220 guests to the Bank House Hotel Spa and Golf Club resort for an evening with auction prizes such as a signed Gary Lineker shirt and two weeks in a Californian villa.

With SJL Insurance Services covering the costs of the evening, the foundation was able to donate £35,196 to the chosen causes.

The SJL Foundation was set up by Worcester-born entrepreneur Simon Lancaster the son of David and the late Pat Lancaster who were also both born and bred in Worcestershire.

Simon is the CEO and founder of global insurance brokerage, SJL Insurance Services.

Acorns chief executive Toby Porter said: “The ball was a wonderful event and a vivid showcase of immense generosity and compassion in action.

“As a charity, Acorns simply would not be able to continue our vital care to families across the region without the support of organisations like the SJL Foundation.

“This amount will directly benefit families across our local areas who rely on our charity’s love and support.”
