Work set to improve pavements

Malvern Editorial 20th Nov, 2013 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

MAINTENANCE work will be carried out on dangerous pathways in Malvern Link, Worcestershire County Council has confirmed.

Head of operations Ian Bamforth said in a letter to MP Harriett Baldwin the pavements outside Churchill Retirement Home and on Summerfield Road required attention.

Subsequently the walking routes have been included in the council’s 2013 footway maintenance programme and will be completely reconstructed.

It follows a petition being handed to the council, reported in last week’s Observer, calling for action in the area which gained more than 600 signatures in a week.

Mrs Baldwin said: “I am grateful to local residents in Malvern for drawing my attention to this problem.

“With all the investment in Malvern Link – the new hospital, the refurbished station, Churchill Retirement Home, the upgraded Post Office and the new fire station – it is good to hear that the pavements will also get reconstructed.

“I am also grateful to all the people who took the trouble to sign the petition and I hope they will be happy with the results we have achieved.”
