Brothers chasing England dream

MALVERN could be the home of the latest brothers to play rugby for England as Max and Ted Hill continue their rise up the ranks.

The talented duo are on track to follow in the footsteps of Tom and Ben Youngs and Billy and Mako Vunipola who have represented their country, after being named among the best in the region.

Max and Ted, who are products of Malvern’s youth system, have been selected for the Midlands area, which is the final step before being capped at England’s respective age groups.

Max has been coached by Gareth Richards and his father Vince, who were both members of the Malvern side which climbed through the leagues in the late 80s and early 90s.

The Worcester Sixth Form College pupil was part of the U17s side which won the North Midlands league last season and he has moved on to the Worcester Warriors ACE programme.

Max now goes to Loughborough to take part in a tournament which will decide which players are put forward for selection for the England U18 age group.

Meanwhile, his brother Ted has been coached at Spring Lane by former Malvern stars Stuart Lucas and Byron Williams.

The River School pupil has trodden the same path as Max as he skippered the county, North Midlands and Warriors U16s.

Ted is now set to go forward to a tournament in Wellington where the England squad will be selected.
