Decision over controversial Malvern match abandonment set to be made

A DECISION over Malvern Town’s abandonment at Pegasus Juniors last month is set to be made at tonight’s West Midlands (Regional) League management committee meeting.

Malvern had made the journey down to Pegasus on Saturday, January 9 and after 66 minutes, with Malvern leading 5-1, the game was controversially abandoned by referee Anthony Glazzard.

Now, a month later, the WMRL management committee will decide tonight whether or not Malvern will be awarded the three points or if the game will have to be replayed.

Speaking to the Observer last month, Malvern Town manager Les Jones said: “We’re extremely disappointed that our game at Pegasus was called off after 66 minutes.

“You want to win every game as it goes towards our target of reaching FA Cup qualification so we hope we get awarded the three points.”
