JACK Watts’ late goal earned Malvern Town a point in a 2-2 draw against Tavistock AFC.
Watts drew the Hillsiders level after Sam Clark broke the deadlock early in the second half at the HDAnywhere Community Stadium.
The result means three of Malvern’s last four matches have ended two-apiece and leaves Town 12th in the Southern League Division One South table.
Chances were at a premium in the early exchanges as Levi Franics fired a shot over the bar from distance.
At the other end, Jacob Shore fired over before Liam Prynn somehow lifted the ball over the crossbar with the goal at his mercy.
Malvern goalkeeper Lewis Adams then held Jacob Bowker’s long-range strike after Aaron Dearing denied Watts at the other end.
The Hillsiders almost took the lead moments before the break as Alexander Bell sent a free-kick from a dangerous position narrowly over the crossbar.
However, the home side eventually broke the deadlock on 48 minutes when Clark found the net after Charlie Johnson stumbled his way through in the box following a long throw.
Tavistock almost drew level two minutes later as Adams comfortably tipped Prynn’s shot over the crossbar.
The visitors won a penalty on the hour mark after Bell fouled Luke Steer in the box and Prynn stepped up to convert the resulting spot kick.
Visiting keeper Dearing then made a superb reaction save to keep out a deflected cross before saving another deflected effort moments later from Clark.
Tavistock completed the turnaround on 70 minutes when Benjamin Steer laid the ball off to Luke Steer and the latter put the visitors ahead.
The away side had a chance to extend their lead only for Prynn to shoot over from the middle of the box.
Malvern won a penalty on 79 minutes when Watts’ effort struck a Tavistock player on the hand as the same plater coolly converted from the spot.
The Hillsiders went close to a winner when Bell drilled a shot inches past the post before Tavistock had a goal ruled out for offside.
Watts fired agonisingly wide at the death before Clark headed straight at Dearing in injury time.
Malvern are next in action against Falmouth Town on Saturday, November 23 with kick-off at 3pm at Bickland Park.
