KEMPSEY’S Ladies A started their Herefordshire and Worcestershire Winter League Division Three West season with a narrow defeat to Worcester C.
Jo Clark and Gill Hames fought hard against Worcester’s strong first pair and were disappointed to lose 3-6, 0-6.
Charlotte Underwood and Catherine Fardon enjoyed their first match, winning 6-3, 6-4 after some very long rallies.
With the score level at one rubber each there was everything to play for in the next matches as we knew that every game was important.
Charlotte and Catherine were very focused but narrowly lost against Worcester’s first pair 4-6, 6-7.
Jo and Gill’s first set was very close with them taking the lead 7-6 and then securing the last set 6-1.
The final score was two rubbers each and four sets each but Worcester won by 39-38 games.
Kempsey’s next match is at home to Ludlow Castle on Sunday, October 29 (2pm start).
