League clash against in-form Dudley Town will be a test, says Malvern Town joint-boss Hooper

JOINT-BOSS Lee Hooper hopes Malvern Town can build on the positives from the weekend when they play host to Dudley Town in the league tonight (Tuesday).

The Hillsiders got back on the winning trail in the West Midlands Premier on Saturday afternoon with a commanding 3-0 victory over Bilston Town Community, despite playing more than half of the match with ten men after Louis Loader was sent off.

Josh Hunt (2) and Adam Sauntson bagged the goals.

Up next for Hooper’s and Dene Whittal-Williams’ men is a clash against a Dudley outfit which has won their last two games, a 7-1 thrashing of Wem Town followed by a 2-0 triumph over Shifnal Town.

It’s a run of form which has lifted them up to ninth in the league standings.

Malvern won the reverse fixture against Dudley 5-1 last month but Hooper is expecting a tough test tonight.

“Dudley Town will come here in good spirits after their last two results,” he said.

“They are a decent side who have the players to cause us problems if we allow them to.

“We will be looking to build on the positives from Saturday.

“We played the conditions well and worked hard to get the three points.

“Our ten men did well in the second half and we ran out worthy winners, so hopefully we can add to it with another three points to keep the pressure on those teams above us.”
