Malvern Town boss Jones targets victories ahead of hectic fixture schedule

MALVERN Town have a busy fixture list as they face three games over the next seven days.

The Hillsiders entertain Midland League Division Two outfit Paget Rangers in the quarter-finals of the Smedley Crooke Memorial Charity Cup tonight (Wednesday) before travelling to Shifnal Town on Saturday for a West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division clash.

Les Jones’ side then complete a busy schedule next Wednesday when they take on Midland League Premier Division side Stourport Swifts in the Worcester Royal Infirmary Cup.

With two cups still up for grabs and an important league fixture looming, Town boss Les Jones told the Observer it is important his side win all three games.

“It’s absolutely vital we win them all,” he said.

“We want to get some silverware and it would be nice to get back to winning ways at home.

“We have a tough game at Shifnal this weekend who we seem to be seeing a lot of right now so we need to go over there and get the job done.

“It’s important we get the three points because we want to be keeping up with the top two and not get dragged into the battle for fourth and fifth.”

Reserves goalkeeper Josh King is expected to start tonight as first choice stopper Charlie Weaver (concussion) is still sidelined.

Top scorer Dave Reynolds could also miss out depending on work commitments.
