MALVERN Town bosses have congratulated near neighbours Hereford FC on reaching the final of the FA Vase after the Bulls claimed a 2-1 victory over Salisbury.
The phoenix club of Hereford United will now face Morpeth Town at Wembley in a showpiece final on Sunday, May 22 following their 3-1 aggregate victory fellow phoenix club Salisbury – formerly Salisbury City.
The newly-formed Hereford FC’s first ever match came against Malvern Town last year when they claimed a 3-2 victory in front of a record crowd of 2,006 at the HDAnywhere Community Stadium.
Following their success, Chris Pinder, Malvern Town’s managing director, took to Twitter to congratulate their close friends.
He said: “Wow! Hereford FC to Wembley. Has there ever been a more colossal non-league football achievement in history?
“Kudos to Jon Hale and the board!”.
Malvern Town manager Les Jones echoed those sentiments and believes Hereford have what it takes to claim Wembley glory.
“I think it’s terrific for local football and I was surprised they managed to get a good result away from home,” he said.
“I just hope that going to Wembley won’t distract them from their league campaign as I’m sure that will be their priority as only one team goes up.”
